How long until I start to see visible results?

You can expect to see visible results from light therapy within 12 to 24 weeks of use with 25-minute sessions every other day. Results will vary from individual to individual. You can expect to see a slowdown in hair loss and reduction in miniaturization of hair follicles in the first 2 to 4 months. From around 4 to 6 months, you may notice thicker, fuller hair starts to grow back. Light therapy is expected to yield better results as you continue using it to maintain healthy hair growth. Be patient as hair growth is different for each and every person. Please remember, hair only grows less than half an inch each month.

Can I use LightVive everyday?

We recommend taking a rest day in between your 25 minute sessions. There has been no evidence that using it every day vs. every other day will yield you better results.

Is it safe to use topical treatments while using LightVive?

Low-level light therapy may be used in conjunction with many types of approved hair loss treatments. However, it is not required to use our device with another form of treatment in order to achieve results. Many physicians have reported that laser therapy can stimulate cell metabolism and can be used in conjunction with other hair care products or hair loss treatments for enhanced results and faster recovery rate.

How often should I use LightVive?

The LightVive system should be used consistently every other day for 25-minute sessions for optimal results. With the hands-free design, time passes by quickly and does not interrupt with your daily activities whether you're doing work, or watching shows.

Do the lasers penetrate through hair or should I be parting my hair to expose the scalp to the lasers?

It is not required to part your hair. Our light therapy uses specific wavelengths to deliver photons to the tissues on the scalp to enhance cell metabolism and improve energy efficiency. The depth of penetration is dependent on the wavelength of light.

What is the difference between lasers and LEDs?

Lasers emit coherent light and can be transmitted over longer distances as they focus on a single point. LEDs tend to distribute their power over a larger area, without the traveling effect of laser. Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) tend to target and affect local tissues that are exposed to the light. From a short distance, lasers and LEDs may behave very similarly and deliver energy in a similar way. Because it's not coherent light, LEDs can actually use higher power at healing wavelengths and not cause harm, especially since we use high quality LEDs to maintain the required energy levels. All light sources are designed and positioned close to the scalp to allow hair follicles to receive the proper light energy to promote hair growth. The LightVive product line uses the combination of both lasers and LEDs to deliver photons to the scalp to reach both the superficial tissue and the deeper tissues (hair follicles). LEDs work along with lasers to provide wider coverage to the full scalp. The LEDs LightVive uses are powerful medical grade LEDs near monochromatic light, which has properties very similar to lasers, yet still providing broad stimulation of the scalp to ensure exposure of all hair follicles to the light energy.

Will LightVive promote a reduction in hair loss?

Light Therapy uses a scientific process to fight hair loss and promote hair growth by stimulating cell metabolism at the follicular level. This treats genetic hair loss and allows users to have long term success without experiencing an increase in health risks. Many solutions on the market use drugs and chemicals to regrow hair. These may have long term complications for your health and wellbeing. We are against the use of any potentially invasive and unsafe options.

Is it too late for me to start using LightVive

In order for light therapy to work, you cannot be completely bald. The hair follicles must still be alive, otherwise laser therapy may not be effective. As long as you still have hair, even thin hair, laser therapy may be beneficial to you. Please refer to the Norwood-Hamilton Scale (male) or Ludwig-Savin Scale (female) to identify your stage of hair loss. Light Therapy is suitable for (IIa-V for men, I-II for women). Consult your physician if you are not sure whether low-level light therapy can benefit you. Alternatively, you can email your pictures to [email protected] to have our specialists evaluate your hair conditions to see if laser therapy would be beneficial for you.

Why might longer treatment times (i.e. 25 minutes) be more effective than shorter ones (i.e. 6 minutes)?

Our engineers believe longer treatment times are more beneficial because more time allows more light energy to be delivered and absorbed by your follicles to stimulate hair growth. Imagine if you’re sitting in the sun for 25 minutes versus just 6 minutes. The longer you sit, the more light energy your body will absorb. The same concept applies here, which is why we don’t recommend other devices on the market that advertise 6-minute or 90-second treatments as a benefit because it may not be as effective.

Are the lasers harmful?

We use low-level lasers (Class 3R). Laser diodes are safe and have been used for decades. Cold lasers are non-invasive, however all lasers can harm you if you look directly at them. The lasers do not emit heat or radiation and the treatment is completely pain-free. These lasers are cleared by the FDA for both safety and efficacy.

I had a hair transplant or hair procedure, will laser therapy help me?

Hair transplant surgeons we work with have told us that low-level light therapy actually helps hair loss sufferers maintain results after hair treatment procedures. Genetic hair loss is a progressive condition, so this may lead to newly transplanted hairs thinning and falling off. Many transplant surgeons have reported that their patients have seen great success using laser therapy after transplants to help to reduce further hair loss, accelerate recovery time, and maximize results from the expensive procedures.

It’s only been a little over 2 months, I haven’t been as dedicated to using it as I should be and I am definitely seeing results none the less. I have been dealing with thinning hair since I was 17 or so and after having a baby and then a hysterectomy, I really thought there was no hope. I have had success with topicals in the past (before pregnancy) but I wanted to try this before I started that again. I have new growth everywhere and my hair looks a little crazy right now but I’m confident this will continue to help. I will definitely update this in a few months.

This works for me. I am a mom of 4, and a healthy person (normal weight, active, eat whole foods, get good sleep, etc). But last fall I began having some strange symptoms, which suddenly got really bad. Turned out I had lyme disease, and I'm very blessed to have found some drs with additional training and experience- and I am once again healthy. I wanted to wait until after using LightVive for 4 months before doing a review because I wanted to be objective on the review. I must say that it does work but you have to have patience as each person will have different results some faster than others. For me it's about 4 mos before really noticing the difference. I even took photos in stages so that I can see for myself the progress. My husband even noticed the filling in of new hair growth and commented on it which was great feedback. He can definitely see the back of my hair. When I wash my hair, I noticed I don't loose as much hair which is a great sign of the system is working. Also when brushing less hair is falling off. I use this faithfully per instructions (25 mins everyone other day). This product is a keeper.

Comfortable non-chemical option for hair loss

This helmet is comfortable to wear, there are pads to hold it in place, and is very well made. I just wear it every other day while I read or watch tv. The red light doesn't cause any discomfort or make any noise. The price is very reasonable when compared to products like topicals that you have to keep buying constantly, and they are not cheap. I am quite hopeful this will work based on other reviews and will post further assessments and before and after pics upon hair growth.

I will say.. after I began using this expensive helmet( after 3 years of alopecia universalis) .. I almost have a full scalp back of hair. I was completely bald for 3 years with no hope. I didn’t use the helmet religiously until after 2 months when I finally noticed hair coming in. The hair growing in is thick and normal looking ???? my eyelashes and eyebrows also grew back though... so I don’t know if I can fully attribute it to the helmet but I sort of think it plays a big role in reversing the hair follicles attacking themselves.. so now I wear the helmet every other day. I have had the Elite since January 2022 and have been using it every night. It is very easy to use, perfect size, lightweight, and very comfortable whenever it is on my head. I just watched TV or iPad while using it and it only takes 25 minutes every night. I have noticed an improvement in my hair density. Of course, it won't give you an apparent result in a short period of time, but just be patient and use it every night, it will definitely show some improvement over time.

Legit laser diodes, as where many of the competitors have LED lights (just take a cheap flashlight if that’s what you want). The laser diodes make this a very effective treatment.
